An invitation

Window

Ideally, you’d walk up to them and just have the conversation. Whether you’re selling or buying, giving feedback, asking for help … whatever … there’s that risk that they’re not open and you might just put cards on the table you’d rather keep to yourself if they’re not willing to engage.

Don’t barge through a door. Send an invitation.

Find a way of opening a conversation that encourages them to stand beside you and look out of the window together. If they’re ready and have their ears open, you’re good to go. If they’re not, no muss no fuss – but you might want to make sure they didn’t miss the invitation. Send a slightly clearer one.

The dance can take a few iterations, so it depends on how much of a hurry your in and how much your barging might risk.

Skippy strategy: Open the door to risky conversations.
