There are always practicalities in the way. There are a thousand reasons to put things off, to continue working around the problem, to kick that can a little further down that road. But when you’ve made the decision – it’s now about when rather than if – it’s time to take some actual steps.
Sure, the process will uncover even more issues, more dependencies, more reasons to stick just a little longer with the status quo. And equally true, the time it takes will continue to expose the reasons you made the decision you did.
Tough decisions are tough. There are often people involved and a decent slug of value judgement. But when the decision is made, when you know what you have to do, when the only thing left in the way is your resolve … drink from the cup.
