The one looking back
The mirror is a very useful thing.
There’s what it’s built for, you know, traditionally; checking if things are where they’re supposed to be. Which might be called, confronting reality.
Which is what it’s really useful for.
– When things go wrong. There, right there, is a decent chunk of the reason. Yes, there are circumstances beyond, and plain bad luck, and mitigations and waves of the legislators pen – but some of it falls to you. What will you do differently next time?
– When there’s only one person to make the decision. There, right there, looking you in the eye when no one else can see. No bluster, no ego. Demanding to know the what and the why of the thing. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, it’s between you and one looking back. What will you do this time?
Skippy strategy: Understand your sources, then look in the mirror.
