Actually doing it

When you know where you’re going, it’s pretty easy to come up with a plan to get there. Do this, and this, and this, then this and this, and with a bit of luck and a following wind … ta da! We’re here.
There are generally two problems: obstacles, and action.
Obstacles – there’s always something in the way. Time, talent, cash, competitors, uncomprehending customers and colleagues, access to decision makers, technology, push-back, second guessing. The hills are steeper, the alleys are blind, the wind is icy. A whole bunch of, you know, stuff. Every project deals as much with the stuff as it does with the steps.
Action – you have to … ummm … kinda … ummm … get off your arse … and … ummm … actually do all the little things that get you to the big thing. One step after the other, until it’s done.
