Fail at everything

It’s never just this thing. When there’s a problem, we dive in and sort the problem, and if we’re smart and have five spare minutes, we try to work out how the problem happened. And oh!, it’s never just this thing. It happened because of this and this, which meant that and that, then these things happened and we ended up here.
So much for diagnosis. What are we going to do about it?
Sometimes it’s tempting to turn around and whistle. Other times, we draw up a long list and spend a long time dealing with all the little things until the list is no list at all. Most times though, we do something, we make small progress, then get waylaid by the next problem.
When time is limited, focus on one thing and nail it forever. Then find another.
Skippy strategy: Better to focus than fail at everything.
