Like last time

Problem

Last time this happened we put all our efforts into the fix and breathed a huge sigh of relief when everything came back into line. We patted ourselves on the back for the way we pulled together and how we handled the communications, and we got on with the rest of our lives.

Now it’s happened again.

Sure we can fix it, and we will, just like last time.

The big question: what’s the cause and how do we stop it happening over? Without that, we’re waiting on things going wrong again, but we’re hoping they won’t. And hope doesn’t come close to organising for success.

Whenever something needs fixing, fix it. Then use the quiet time that follows to run diagnostics and dig into root causes. What special circumstances triggered the failure? What generic weakness does that highlight?

Skippy strategy: Fix the problem, then go back to fix the cause.
