Miserable luck
It may never happen. It probably won’t happen. I can’t see any way that it will happen. It happened. That thing you worried about, that you played scenarios over, that kept you awake at night, that one slight possibility that had the potential to do deep damage, the thing that was never supposed to happen … sometimes does.
What are you going to do? How about you take some time to shout in the wind, to curse your miserable luck, to wallow. Let’s say five minutes. Just long enough to make a coffee. Then, sit back down and get back to work. Think it through, play new scenarios, make some calls, draw on a whiteboard.
Work the problem.
What have you got that’s good? Start there. What can you do with what you have, what is the next step? Get on with it.
