Same old rodeo?
Doing something for the first time, you learn a lot. How to act, how to get it done, who needs to be in the loop, how things add up, who holds the power, where to look for cracks, when and if to blink, who you can trust, the thing about time, ALL about people.
Actually, that’s more than a lot of learning.
And maybe you didn’t learn every lesson and ace every test. Maybe you stumbled and bumbled to the finish line. Around the barrels, not quarter-horse straight. Some good lessons, some bad ones.
And experience isn’t a single-shot, overnight-success, wonder-drug. It’s iterative. It builds from mistake after success after mistake after success.
And even when you’ve seen it all before, next time around ain’t like the last time.
Pay attention. Feel for feedback. Sense the sinews.
Every rodeo is different. Never assume you know which way the bull’s gonna buck.
Skippy strategy: Next time you start acting like you’ve seen it all before, switch off the holodeck and take a good hard look.
