The baseline

Wonder Wheel

Wouldn’t it be good if you had a system that told you about the things you need to know. Two systems actually. One would give you real time information on the issues and numbers you need to understand how we’re doing against the day to day run-rate stuff – like number of leads, or units sold and shipped, or project progress, or days of stock, or any other metric that, if you know it, you stop wasting time wondering about things that don’t need attention.

The other would be a system that flags issues and roadblocks. Maybe in the day to day, when one of those trackers gets out of whack, but also deeper – like when there’s a technology shift, or a new player, or some political wind, or interpersonal problems.

Let’s call them a dashboard and some reporting lines. Let’s call that baseline information.

Skippy strategy: Build the reporting you need.
