The road
If there was a road from where you are now to where you want to be it would be full of obstacles, it would fork every now and again, there would be blind alleys and cul de sacs, it might go around the odd tree or circle or big old mountain. And the job, the one that’s talked about in meetings, the one in the job description, the one that occupies the day to day … is all about travelling that road.
What isn’t in the job description, what isn’t on today’s agenda, what doesn’t get much of an airing … all the distractions along the way. The things that divert attention and focus, that suck energy and creativity, that niggle away and undermine, that drag eyes away from the road.
Skippy strategy: Remove distractions and remind every one (including the one in the mirror) to keep looking through the windshield.
