If you’re the kind of person who likes to rant and rave, who feels the need to unload about exactly unfair is the world, your customer, your colleague, your partner, your supplier, the quality of the code or the product, the availability of a specific solution to a particular problem at at immediate moment … by all means unload. When you do though, find the right place to do it; someone who can take it and who isn’t involved in anything impacted by your venting.
Find someone who can stand it – a mentor, a friend, your significant other. Someone who won’t be blindsided by it or feel they have to dive in to solve all your woes. Someone interested in helping you, supporting you.
Why? Because ranting isn’t leading and it sets the kind of example that you wouldn’t want them to follow.
Skippy strategy: Find a place to vent, outside.
