Them

Them

It’s no good complaining about them.

Them.

Them!

They may treat information as power, wait around to be told what to do, be unmotivated, unfocused, unaccountable, have no idea about costs, never talk to customers, be overwhelmed with little things, take everything for granted, spend hours on job justification routines, mistake turning up for doing what they’re paid to do.

One level up – an entitled senior team just muddling through? Manage them. Tell them what you need, tell them why, and how it will make things better. Make them accountable.

One level down – staff who lack direction and leadership? Manage them. Tell them what you need, tell them why, and how it will make things better. Hold them accountable.

It’s no good complaining about them. Take action, or you’re one of them.

Skippy Strategy: Don’t waste energy complaining. Diagnose, accept, and then work out how to fix it. If there’s really no hope, find the exit.
