What can we be?


There’s everything you’re doing right now. All the processes used by all the people to turn all the operational stuff into all the results. That’s the organisation as it is today – doing things it knows to do.

The natural domain of all management practice is efficiency and effectiveness. Objectives and measurement and checking on progress. How can we do less of this but get more of that? Who and what is helping or getting in the way? How do I fix that? 1% better. Another 1%. Another. Never satisfied, always pushing.

Leadership describes the bigger picture. What can we be? Where are we headed, what needs to change, what capabilities will we build? How will we be different?
