It gets on with its business
The sign of a functioning organisation is that it gets on with its business without much pushing and shoving. Team members know their responsibilities and have the capability and capacity to pull them off. Leadership keep a weathered eye but have space to get on with strategic pursuits. And all those potentially pesky and troublesome external actors, like customers and shareholders and partners, are happy with their lot and glad they got involved.
Lovely as it sounds, it’s not too common. (Maybe that’s why it sounds lovely.) We get used to the push and the shove, to being pulled around and getting our hands dirty. Some of us are so used to it, that we don’t feel comfortable when things aren’t going wrong – and we find ways to make trouble.
Don’t do that. Welcome the order and plan for the next horizon.
Skippy strategy: Don’t make trouble, look forward.
