Too much – at the beginning of things you tend to know everything about everything. You’re plugged into every loop, whether human or machine, because there’s no choice. As things grow, those loops get longer and fatter and you can easily find yourself involved in things that make no sense, where you can add minimal value, and where you represent a bottleneck for no benefit.
Too little – as things grow, new fields spring into life, some of which could use the additional light and attention that only you can shine. Problem is, without specific guidance, no one is sure what or when you need to be involved.
