Plotting progress


Boy! Is there ever a lot to do.

The day to day drudge, the fighting of fires, the slippage of suppliers, the irritation of innovation, the curses and courting of customers. All the tactical stuff that crowds every meeting, catches you in email, and causes the days to be too sh-aaarghh-ort … it’s tough to take time to talk the truly important talk. To sit and soak in strategy. To lift your eyes to the line of the horizon and plot your path.

In a steady state business maybe it’s ok to work an endless treadmill. Maybe.

For the rest of us, taking time away from spinning wheels and plates is time spent plotting progress. Setting the agenda, plotting a course based on where you want to go and how you want to get there, getting back ahead of the game.

Skippy strategy: One day. Nothing tactical.
