Remove the tension

There are some successful organisations who only do things one way. Their way. Because it works for them and because it gives repeatable results that can be trusted and relied upon by everyone in the loop.

There are other successful organisations who are built for flexibility. Everything, everything!, is in play because it works for them as it allows them to do whatever it takes to get each and every different job done.

The problems come when when type one wants to do something non standard – for which it has neither the people nor the processes to pull off – or when type two tries to morph its whatever-it-takes-ness into everything-looks-the-same – for which it has neither the people nor the processes to pull off.
