Skirt around
It’s possible to talk about the problem without talking about the issue, to paper over the cracks without dealing with the cracks or the causes of the cracks. It’s possible to get on doing the thing you want and miss out all the reasons why you want it, skirt around whether you actually need it or even if it’s the right thing to want if you did unpack the reasons.
Getting to the heart of the the thing, exposing the nub, might take a little longer, might mean a bit more discussion or a bit more mining. Ignoring or avoiding the why might be expedient, might make life a little easier and might protect some vulnerabilities in the short term and, truth be told, might even be the right thing to do.
Short cuts may, but don’t always, get you where you want.
