Space to care

Space

The good doctors use your name and give you the time of day. They apologise for keeping you waiting. They ask you to be a part of the solution. They discuss the options and look for help when they need it. The good doctors act like humans and treat you like one too.

The good managers … just the same.

Common courtesies, consultative, caring, attentive, active listening, human.

And it’s not just behaving like your mother told you – because it’s polite. It’s the difference that’s gets the most out of both sides of the relationship. More engaged, more information flow, more knowledge transfer, better decisions, more creative, more helpful, lower barriers, more good will.

The difference between dismissive and inclusive: a genuinely interest.

Skippy strategy: Say good morning and make space to care.
