The ladders

We all deal with issues. Problems that find their way to our desk tend to be bigger or deeper than the others – we dig in, sort things out, and move on to the next thing. On the way, it’s possible to gain a view of the world that is awash with trip hazards. We’re so busy manoeuvring around them or pushing them out of the way that we can fail to see the opportunities they expose.
A problem with an invoice might actually be a cue for a new process or time-saving system, or a pointer towards a new product, or a way of bringing a customer inside the circle who’ll then tell you what really goes on in your organisation, good and bad.
Sure, we have to bridge the pitfalls, but the benefit comes when you understand the landscape.
