The maybes

Wheel

It’s frustrating when the customer or the colleague or the supplier fails to respond to your simple request as quickly as you’d like. In your rational mind you understand that they’re either too busy or you’re too low a priority to get them to jump lickety-split when you bang your drum. In your rational mind, you understand that the world doesn’t work the way you want it to an you know that a little irritation comes with the territory.

It’s your irrational mind that likes to worry. Maybe those customers are looking somewhere else, maybe your colleague knows something you don’t know, maybe your supplier is sorting out a big order from your biggest competitor. Maybe, maybe, maybe. It’s easy to waste energy with all the maybes.

But simple answers are by far the most likely. They’re busy or lazy, and you can wait.

Skippy strategy: Don’t fret the maybes.
