The other fork

There are time when you have an unexpected opportunity to do well out of a situation at the expense of someone else. Maybe a colleague, maybe a customer. You know something they don’t know, you have leverage they can do nothing about, you have an ace in the hole. It has potential to be good for you, but also to leave a nasty taste in the mouth. Yours and theirs.
The left hand fork, take the opportunity, press the advantage and walk away with a spring in your step and a smile at the unexpected bounty. The other fork, be a good citizen, tell them the potential of their situation and treat them as you’d hope to be treated yourself – with respect, honour and humanity.
Call it karma, call it the golden rule, call it the right thing to do.
