You’re a pinball, knocked about by the day to day, dealing with the issues, heading for the next meeting and challenged every five minutes by your inbox. Everybody wants something and they all want it now, and if not now, then now-now. They’re all doing it too, pushed around by the next mini-crisis and the customer and the deadline and their own to-do list.
Take a moment.
Talk about objectives and priorities. With a couple of hours, everything on the white board, you’ll find plenty of important things to do and a dozen competing priorities, but you’ll also find a consensus around what is truly important and which of the dozen should be towards the top of the list. Amazingly, everyone will agree – even if it means flipping their own objectives down the chute for a while – because pinball is really a team sport.
Skippy strategy: Prioritise together.
