Being difficult

Difficult people have a special way of being difficult. It’s not what they do or don’t do, you can handle that. It’s that you don’t know how to deal with them.
Should you dig in and actively engage in their world? Unravel all their complexity by taking things on and sorting them out on a line-by-line basis? Smooth over their relationships for them, organise around them? Or should you cut your losses and remove them from the fray with all the special difficulties and inherent risks of finding someone else to do the work.
If you don’t know how to work with them, and nor does anyone else, then these are not the kind of people you need on your team.
The easy/difficult answer: whatever it takes to get them out of your frame. Move forward with people you can work with.
