Both qualities
There are some amazing individuals out there. Who have great chops, know exactly what they’re doing, are a wealth of experience, see far and have a fantastic work ethic. Anyone would be happy to have them around.
Then there are some amazing team players out there. Who know how to work together on shared goals, are willing to muck in when necessary, share whatever they know with whomever will benefit and also have a fantastic work ethic. Anyone would would be happy to have them around.
Ideally, when you’re building a team, look for both qualities in the same person.
But if it comes down to a choice of who to have on the team – an amazing individual or an amazing team player – take the team player every time.
Because … erm … if you’re building a team, you need people who can play as a team.
Skippy strategy: Team players first, then everything else.
