Just so

It might feel like your job is to get everyone working just so. That the measure of your success is that they do exactly what you want in exactly the way that you want. That it’s your way or the high way, that the one doing the adapting is anyone except you.
This isn’t true.
Your job is to get the work done. The measure of your success isn’t in the effort, it’s in the outcome. Almost every time, the specific way doesn’t really matter (unless it does, in which case it isn’t your way but the company’s way), and you need to adapt your ways to get the best out of your team in service of the outcome.
You bend around them. You do what it takes to get the best from them. It’s all about them before it’s all about you.
