Smooth handoffs

There are always cracks and gaps when you try to piece things together between teams or departments or disciplines. What seems obvious to one isn’t to the other, received knowledge over here is an unknown mystery over there, everyone knows the jigsaw must fit somehow but it doesn’t, and no one can find the missing pieces anyway.
The answer, slow down a little and add energy to the handoffs. Don’t assume, take the time to explain the why and the how of the choices involved, then take that extra bit of time to make sure it’s gone in one ear and made sense instead of flying out the other.
Make sure everyone sees the bigger picture, that they know where their piece fits, and that it makes a difference to the whole.
In other words: don’t chuck things over the wall and hope.
Skippy strategy: If nothing else … smooth handoffs.
