The sweeper

Every team needs one. Someone who sits at the back and deals with things. Who sorts out issues before they become problems and solves problems before they morph into full-blown crises with tentacles that threaten to tear the ship apart.
The sweeper.
Quiet. Unsung. Studious.
The problem is, quiet as they are, they’re easy to take for granted. Whilst you’re working your own agenda, it’s easy to miss them in the background, waving their net, doing the things that have to be done to keep the promises you made yesterday.
The thing is, quiet as they are, they’re still human. They appreciate being appreciated. They know it’s important to clear up the mess, to catch the balls, to crank the handle – they just don’t know that you know.
You don’t have to make a fuss, but do something nice for the sweeper.
