It may never happen.
It probably won’t happen.
I can’t see any way that it will happen.
It happened.
That thing you worried about, that you played scenarios over, that kept you awake at night, that one slight possibility that had the potential to do deep damage, the thing that was never supposed to happen … it just did.
What to do now?
How about you take some time to shout in the wind, to curse your miserable luck, to wallow? Let’s say five minutes. Just long enough to make a coffee. Then, sit back down and get back to work. Think it through, play new scenarios, make some calls, draw on a whiteboard.
Work the problem.
What have you got that’s good? Start there. What next step can you take with what you have? Get on with that. Then what?
