Guts being busted

Calling

There’s not much more to pushing projects from the start line to the finish line than fulfilled commitments.

When someone says they’ll put tab A into slot B, the person on the hook for completing the task is that someone. The project manager relies on them. So do the people who need a snug fit (which is code for the entire team). Ultimately, the project itself.

Commitments matter.

They have consequences, connections, dependencies, deliverables.

Sure, things don’t always work out the way they’re supposed to. Stuff gets in the way. Hurdles are higher and chasms are deeper.

Everyone gets that.

When that happens, those same people expect to see guts being busted to bring things back on track.

What they don’t expect, and shouldn’t tolerate, is someone negotiating on whether they committed to it in the first place.

Never allow that.

Skippy strategy: Fulfil on commitments. Hold yourself to account.
