In your hands

Ever deal with one of those organisations whose processes aren’t as motivated as their people seem to be? They say they’ll do something but nothing happens. They make promises they don’t keep – not because they don’t want to, but because they can’t.
It’s so easy to talk and so much more difficult to follow through. It’s inevitable. Right?
Doesn’t have to be. Not in your hands.
Authority – make sure everyone has the authority to do their job, plus extra authority to change processes that are no longer fit for purpose.
Responsibility – when someone makes a commitment, they’re responsible for it. That means personal follow through and checking in on promises passed to somebody else. (Did you call that guy?)
Accountability – this one’s yours. Hold everyone accountable for their value-add, for updating the standard operating model, and for doing what they’re responsible of doing.
Skippy strategy: Make follow-through a fundamental.
