The harder thing
The easiest thing is to let yourself get stuck on the day to day. To be defined by the priorities of someone else’s email, to dig in on every attempt to throw decisions upstairs, to turn from meeting to meeting without time to reflect or take action.
The harder thing is to be in control. To deal with the day to day whilst still making progress on the strategic priorities. To keep on your agenda, to push back on bucks passed, to add time to think and turn thoughts into action.
The way to do it – start the day with things that move the needle, leave the day to day until later in that day, end every interaction with confirmation of decisions taken and actions committed, follow up on yourself and on every action. Not easy, but the easiest way to move forward.
Skippy strategy: Moving forward means not getting stuck.
