Bend and bow
Things, systems, processes, most of everything we use are designed to work under standard loads. That’s their purpose. Ask them to do what they’re designed to do, they get on with it – maybe a creak or two, maybe a spot of oil helps, but in the main … all good. Put them under too much load though, ask them to operate outside of their normal operating tolerances, they’ll comply to the laws of material science that say things can only do so much before they bend and break.
Too much is too much.
People too.
They like to do the work. Are validated and excited by a job well done. Put in a shift to make extraordinary things happen. Say yes. Push beyond the reasonable point.
But only for so long.
Under too much load, things will start to bend and bow.
Skippy strategy: Too much is too much for too long.
