Kicked cans
There are some things everybody knows.
They know what’s working, what’s not, who’s a superstar, who’s not, the partners and colleagues they like working with, and…
Cans can indeed be kicked down the road, but kicked cans make noise, go rusty, and pollute the environment they occupy.
Cans soooo want to be kicked down the road.
Their temptation? Don’t deal with this special little problem today, tomorrow will be fine.
It’s puts off any discomfort and lets everyone get on with the work of … muddling through the lack of clarity and the confusion whilst sitting in a holding pattern until the can eventually does get dealt with.
The big thing can-kicking guarantees; sloooow-motion living. Everyone waiting, waiting for some definitive action, a decision, resolution.
The only real can-kicking advantage; eliminating a short-term discomfort.
The solution – get over it, grasp the nettle, suck up the discomfort (and maybe the sense of loss) and do the thing you know you need to do.
