Pulling away

At the end of the day, at the end of the project, at the end of the season, at the end of the year, take a moment. Gather the people involved, share the stories, celebrate the highs, remember the lows, learn the lessons.
Partly it’s the ceremony of closure; of putting the old to bed before we turn to the new.
Partly it’s the building of a shared memory; a place we can all look towards and understand as a group, nothing (or not much) out of place.
Partly, it’s pulling away from the endless loops to spin towards a new horizon; one where the good is retained and the bad is remodelled as lessons learned and stories gained.
Putting things to bed – they are what they are – no need to score points.
The lesson is the reflection.
Skippy strategy: Memory as a shared act, with room to breathe.

It’s possible to set things up for failure or set them up for success.
After the set-up, the project and the people do their thing.
That thing…
Sometimes they’ll get away with it, sometimes nobody will care, sometimes good enough is all that’s needed, sometimes the only one that matters is them…
