The other side

Partnerships, all partnerships, are based on trust.
Trust that you’ll do what you say you’re going to do. Trust that you won’t stiff me over things I cant see or don’t understand. Trust that we’ll work together to overcome the inevitable difficulties. Trust that we can do more together than we can apart.
It’s true at home and it’s true at work.
All that, and then, most important, trust that you’ll be honest with me.
And that’s the highest bar. Because that kind of honesty means trusting on the other side. Trust me to accept what has to be said and treat it as if we’re both on the same side of the table.
An easy Yes?
Emotionally, when the chips look like they’re heading into the abyss, it’s much easier to hold back.
Don’t.
Always be gracious, but always be honest.
