Being woolly

Screens

If you find yourself being woolly, it’s for one of two reasons.

Probably it’s because you don’t really know. You think you do. You kind of do. But you don’t. You’re casting around for something that’s worth saying and you can’t find it, or you’re absolutely sure you don’t know but for some reason you’ve committed to carry on speaking.

Alternatively, you absolutely do know what you’re talking about and you’re doing everything you can to disguise the fact or avoid the facts. You’re washing everyone around with bland phrases that miss not only the bulls eye ignore the board itself. Classic avoidance.

Either way – your audience knows.

They see you spinning and they’re thinking, buried in their lizard brain, bluffer or charlatan.

If you don’t know, you’re better of being honest about it.

If you do know, own it.

Skippy strategy: Your audience knows what woolliness is hiding.
