Ready for its role

What if it was a product with a customer and a launch date?
That thing you’re working on – that little to-do or one of your bigger deliverables that other people on your team are waiting for – what if it was a product?
What if, instead of it being something on your list that you’ll get around to when the time is right and the stars align, you’d actually made a commitment to someone outside of your box room or the team or the organisation?
My guess, you’d feel more committed.
You’d feel like you had to deliver on time and to a standard that would make you at least moderately proud. You’d put in a little more effort, make it a little more finished, add a little more shine and make sure it was ready for its role in prime time.
