You choose
Deep in doing mode, busy every day, fighting the fires and dealing with the email whipsaw, it’s likely your focus is being pulled everywhere and landing on nowhere. The result: plenty of busy-busy, many things done, not much achieved. Well, not much achieved that you set out to achieve at the beginning of the day, week, month, quarter – even if you gave yourself time to work out what you wanted to achieve in the first place. More likely still, you never worked it out, your team never worked it out.
The easy answer is to do less, to commit to less, to take on less and be less reactive. Nice idea!
The more realistic answer is to slow down, knock a beat off your reactive impulsive, work out how to live by realistic deadlines, and ask, how does this take me forward.
Skippy strategy: Only do things you choose to do.
