Not the tool
When something isn’t right with a process it’s convenient to start blaming the tools.
If only we had this new feature. Did you hear about the snazzy new update. I think it’s only on iOS, or Android. If we could only use it this way or that.
No argument, your team need the tools for the job.
But before you invest in another new suite or indulge the latest manager through the door who swears they used to use X at their old place and it worked so wonderfully … is it really about the tools? Or is it about using the ones they have more effectively? With an open mind, some training, holding the tool like, this and not like that.
Most times – if you stand back from the frustration – it’s not the tool that’s the problem, it’s the way it’s being used.
