The merely urgent
The schedules were checked. The meeting was set. Everyone knows to be there. Time together to sort out the kind of things we can only sort out when we spend time together.
And then a client calls and suggests a meet.
And then the bug that wasn’t a bug raises its head and wants to be squashed.
And then there’s a problem with production, with an email, a loose thread.
And what about that report that refuses to wrestle itself into shape without my help? Maybe I could just dodge that meeting with you guys? It’s not urgent is it?
No, not urgent.
Just important.
Important that we fulfil on our commitments, that we do what we say we’re going to do, that we respect each other and the whirlwind that made us set time aside in the first place.
Skippy strategy: Don’t dodge the important for the merely urgent.
