To the handoffs

There are always cracks and gaps when you try to piece things together between teams or departments or disciplines.
What seems obvious to one isn’t to the other.
Received knowledge over here is an unknown mystery over there.
Everyone knows it’s a jigsaw, and must fit, but it doesn’t.
And no one knows where to find the missing pieces.
The answer? Slow down a little and add energy to the handoffs.
Don’t assume. Take time to explain the why and the how of the choices. Take an extra beat, now, to check it’s landed. Take and extra step, here, to smooth out the on-ramp.
Add perspective, to make sure everyone sees the bigger picture, that they know where their piece fits, and how it makes a difference to the whole.
In other words: don’t chuck things over the wall and hope.
Skippy strategy: If nothing else … smooth handoffs.
