Cool for convenience

Treu

It’s a virtual world. Email and sms and phones and video. We’re there when we’re not there. We can get things done, builds teams without physical limits and fit more things in.

But what’s cool for convenience, entirely expedient and pops for productivity, comes with costs.

What’s on the woodwork? Without proximity-time you miss the mood swings, the raised eyes, the body language. You never have time to explore the edges of the thing, the half said nuances, the easy relationships built around the water cooler.

It’s not about sports scores, it’s about trust.

There’s no substitute for real-life face time. Yes it’s inconvenient. Yes it’s difficult to set up and costs more than money. Yes, it takes effort.

Sometimes, leadership is about being where you don’t want to be doing things you don’t want to do … to get what you didn’t know you needed.

Skippy strategy: Put yourself out.
