Energisers up

There are people who bring energy to every situation.
They walk in the room with ideas and look for ways to move things on, get things done, bring the best out of themselves and the team. We all want to work with these people – and we always try to keep them happy and motivated on the team.
Then there are people who suck energy out of every situation.
By being downers on other people’s ideas, by always having excuses, by constantly coming up with reasons why everything is harder and will take longer, by changing direction and changing again, by finding new ways to let their colleagues down and the project suffer. None of us want to work with these people – but, being conflict averse, too often we let them stay on the team.
Hire for the first, fire the second.
