Exclusive club
It’s an exclusive club. Your organisation has ways of doing what it does, mores for how it goes about its business, internal and external relationships that predict and moderate the pace and priority of things.
For someone new coming into that club, it’s likely to be intimidating for even the most confident and frustrating for even the most competent.
Intimidating because they don’t know the how and the why and the where and the when of the standard operating procedure, they don’t know who does what and where they do and do not fit into the picture.
Frustrating because that lack of clarity, even if it’s in the job description, leaves so much unsaid. Not only do they not hold the keys to their productivity, they don’t even know how many keys they need to hold.
Skippy strategy: When you bring someone in to that club, give them a guide.
