Running and talking

There are definitely people on your team that you know aren’t giving their best, and you know that’s because you’re not giving your best to them. You know that your current method of management isn’t working, that you’re clipping the hurdles on every third step, and that both of you could do better if you worked on your rhythm.
Take responsibility.
Start by trying.
Find something you need to do together then run shoulder to shoulder. Take the opportunity to talk about the running and the reason for running as you go. No big deal. No ultimatums. No anger management. Just put on your shoes and head out the door together, and keep running and talking and running and talking until you each know better how to help one another win.
And then do what you now know to do.
Skippy strategy: In short, show them they matter.
