So they struggle

Heron

Bringing someone new into a growing group for a role that didn’t exist before is a challenge defined by too many moving parts. The new person has to mount the usual learning curve of how things work around here and who the people are around here at the same time as working out what their work is … and how it fits with all those people.

Whilst everyone else is wondering the same thing.

Their guide? You.

And chances are … you won’t give them as much guidance as they need. Because, one, you don’t have the answers and, two, because you hired them specifically to work it out.

So they struggle.

Maybe not on the day to day, maybe not on the interactions, but on making impact.

They’ll look for comfort doing small things.

Is that all you want?

Skippy strategy: After three months, focus them on the bigger things that matter more.
