As a manager there’s a risk that we spend all our time, talents and effort doing the technical aspects of the work that lands on our desk. The emails we have to write, the technologies we have to assess and implement, the bureaucratic responsibilities we have to fulfil. We can find ourselves so busy and engrossed in things that only we can do, that we can lose the importance of our role in out team – to give them direction and purpose, to encourage and prioritise, to challenge and hold accountable, whatever it takes to make sure that we win and we win together.
