A look in

Bathsheba

There’s always a lot to do. By the time you’ve done everything that’s expected it’s likely that there’s next to no time left to do high value discretionary work. Those transformational, important but not urgent, game changing things you’d love to do and that justify your position in the first place … barely get a look in. Running fast to stand still doesn’t make progress and doesn’t leave anyone feeling good.

The answer is to do more by doing less. Focus more of your mandatory efforts on the highest leverage activities – when one minute of your time gets multiplied by everyone you work with, and you spend less time doing solo projects. For that big report, pull your team together to collaborate, fast track the thinking and delegate the leg work. Spend your time only on the things that only you can do.

Skippy strategy: Do more by doing less.
