Find the causes

We all like an easy fix. We like to think that when we dig a little underneath a problem and discover an obvious issue, that it’s THE issue, that this one thing caused the horror and all we have to do is tweak it a smidge and polish it a little and, ta da!, all is good with the world.
It doesn’t work that way.
It’s never just one thing. When there’s a problem, if you take the time to track down what’s really going on, you always finds it’s this and this and this and this. Everything is connected, so a problem here makes a problem there which causes issues in that other place too.
If you really want to break away, gather the talents around a white board, draw the boxes and make the connections. Fix together what you find together.
Skippy strategy: Find the causes, fix the causes.
